The main factors influencing the measurement of the moisture content of raw cotton have been established and, on 
the basis of this, provisions have been determined for the development of a new automated device with a minimum influence 
of the human factor and taking into account the results obtained, as well as the development of a new metrological support 
for it. 
Tests of a modern measuring device showed a good convergence of results. According to the test data, the humidity 
measurement error of up to 10% is within the tolerance of ±0.5% (abs.). with a humidity of more than 10%, within the 
tolerance of ±5.0% (rel.) of the humidity measurement error, which is within the tolerance specified in the technical 
assignment. Thus, in terms of metrological and technical parameters, the measuring complex meets the requirements. This 
allows us to recommend it for implementation in the industry.
In addition, the new device provides for the automation of the process of weighing a dry sample and data processing 
when calculating moisture content with the results being displayed on a digital display, which eliminates the subjective 
influence of operators
