INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCES OF STUDENTS AND YOUNG RESEARCHERS
dedicated to the 99
th
anniversary of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev
466
Proposed work
The new suggestion is to use a mechanism (a combination of cogwheels)
to combine 2 escalators and create a fixed pulley system of them. The
appendix of the mechanism is connected to the center of drive gears of the
escalators. System can work only in 2 escalators moving in opposite
directions, which are placed next to each other parallel.

Improvement of existing technology could lead to reduction of energy
usage by 25 per cent (due to calculations) and reduction of CO2 emissions
by 50 000 – 100 000 tons per year depending on the number of escalator
pairs in which the suggested mechanical system is used.

The proportion depends on the mass of the passengers on the upwards
going and downwards going escalator separately. If the mass of the
passengers in the upwards going escalator is equal to the mass of the
passengers in the downwards going escalator, then the efficiency is to be the
maximum. If passengers are only in one of the escalators (either upwards or
downwards), no change is anticipated in the case.
