Nowadays, studies at creation of effective modulators of the neurotransmitter
systems of the brain attract scientists’ attention. Alcohol is
considered the most common
exogenous toxin causing encephalopathy. The dopaminergic system plays a role in the
development of various mental and movement disorders. Studies have shown that the
preference for alcohol is accompanied by an increase in the activity of the dopaminergic
system in the brain. In this regard, the search for agonists and antagonists of dopamine
release can be considered an urgent task in the creation of both anti-alcohol drugs and
drugs for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. We have studied the effect of 33
derivatives of 1-aryl-6,7-dimethoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline (Structure I) on the
locomotor
activity of intact animals, as well as on the locomotor activity of
amphetamine in the open field conditions. The test substances
were administered at a
dose of 1 mg/kg orally 1 hour before the start of the experiment. Amphetamine was
administered at a dose of 5 mg/kg subcutaneously in one hour after the administration
of the test substances.
