12- Human cloning is today turning into one of the hottest issues in the
world and while it has attracted many supporters, there are still people
who disapprove of this modern science.
Discuss both these views and give your opinion
Science fiction authors have for many years instilled in us the fantastic idea of
great armies of cloned men and women, fighting
mindless battles for the
betterment of human kind. Perfect beings created under the microscope of
fantasy to accelerate the evolutionary process, a
brave new world, of identical
people. But is there truly an application for human cloning in our 21st century
society?
Some people’s answer to the question is a simple “NO”. Money and power
have played large roles in societal development and destruction throughout
history. The concerns that face society with the
onslaught of cloned humans
lie in a similar vain. Those who can afford the perfect child, will have a perfect
child, and will still serve it caviar for breakfast. This could cause an ever
greater rift in the current class structure that the
western world currently
adheres to. Furthermore, they maintain that there will be people who will
abuse the cloned human beings they own. They will use them to achieve their
goals and will try to dominate the world using the clones they have.
However, there are people in the business world who would
much prefer an
employee that is never ill to an employee that might catch flue the week of the
first cricket world cup match. Clones could very well be better suited to the
working world, than the working class that drives the economy today. There
are also people who are suffering from a chronic lack of free time and they
would prefer to have their tiring daily chores done
by a clone in order to save
up some time.
In conclusion, considering the fact that the cloned humans are more likely to
be abused by the people in power in today’s world, I believe we’d
better put
up with our daily chores and so before legalizing any form of cloning we must
give it a second thought.
