13- Does space exploration make any sense in a world where so many 
people live in abject poverty? 
Use specific reasons to support your opinion?
Space exploration has advanced a lot especially during the Cold War, where 
the United States and the Soviet Union competed against each other and 
invested huge sums of money in this field. Since then, U.S.A. has kept on with 
the project of sending ships into outer space and exploring the endless 
universe waiting hopefully for something to appear. Millions of dollars are 
spent on these projects, but are they really worth it? I mean, millions of people 
are living in abject poverty, starving to death, and these imperialist countries 
could not care less for them. 
These countries should reconsider their policy. They only want to be the best 
and if the rest is worse, even better. Maybe their country is fine, there is a low 
rate of unemployment, people are happy and proud of being part of this 
developed power of the first world, but, while they send spaceships to Jupiter, 
there are other countries which cannot even have access to the Internet, and 
there are millions of people who cannot take home a piece of bread to feed 
their starving family. The capitalist world in which we live has made the gap 
between the rich and the poor even wider, and it will continue to be like this as 
long as the system remains the same. If only the people in developed 
countries could experience the problems that millions of children face every 
single day, they would think twice about space exploration. 
Many people say that space exploration has advanced a lot and that soon 
they will be having their vacations on the moon. This is because they only 
take the opinion of people who have all what they need, so they have to give 
sense to their lives with these types of things. Have you ever seen a poor 
person talking about astronomy? Their only preoccupation in life is to survive, 
to make the pain less harsh, and to try to avoid suffering. 
In conclusion, I believe If the developed world spent less money on space 
exploration and more on fighting poverty it would make a greater sense.
