Books play a significant role in our life, especially for children.Books are our
friends. We meet them when we are very small and can't read, but we remember
our mother read them for us. We learn very much from books. Reading books
increases the knowledge of students, improves their intellect, makes students
aware of the various societies, and civilizations across the globe, Books play a
quintessential role in every student’s life by introducing them to a world of
imagination, providing knowledge of the outside world, improving their reading,
writing and speaking skills as well as boosting memory and intelligence. Moreover,
reading books enhances imagination and creativity in the student's mind. The
importance of books in our life cannot be undermined for they not only help in
broadening our horizons but also act as doorways to connecting us with the world
around us. They function as survival kits, they influence us .
Books are the most
important asset, and without them, there would be no past, present, or future.
They define who we are, where we come from and what we need to do to sustain
our lives. Books are the gates to our world of imagination. They feed us with all
the knowledge we seek, sculpt our personalities, and sharpen our comprehension
as well as our communication skills. Reading books helps us to learn from others'
experiences and covers every aspect of life.Books also entertain us with pieces of
art so creatively and beautifully written that we can't stop reading them until we
reach the last page.
Books can teach you so many life lessons. They are a whole
package of knowledge which can be useful to you in different walks of your life.
They can teach you how to deal with different kinds of crises and problems, help
you to learn how to love yourself, teach you about feelings and friendships, and
even give you information that was dated hundreds of years ago.
When a person
reads a book, they are exposed to the perspectives of different characters and
genres. Reading exposes us to different types of situations and environments,
which can help us understand and comprehend situations better. It helps you
solve problems by making a thorough analysis of the situation. It also sharpens
your comprehension skills as well as your logic.
The whole point of reading is to
understand what the author is trying to convey to their readers, and there are
often times when we come across a particular word or phrase that is not familiar
to us, so we look up their meanings, which exposes us to new words. Hence,
improving our vocabulary skills. Reading is an integral part of growing mentally
and emotionally. It helps us understand the world around us, relate to each other,
and build our self confidence. It also gives us a deeper understanding of the world
we live in and how different cultures perceive things differently. Reading is an
insightful and inspiring process which has been found to improve both short-term
and long-term memory. Studies have shown that reading can help you retain
information longer in the form of stories, characters, timelines, and plots.
Reading
improves your creative skills as you're constantly being exposed to different
storytelling techniques. It generates creativity in all forms, such as writing,
painting, music, and art. Reading is a powerful tool that helps people deal in their
own way with emotional issues by exposing them to different scenarios and
situations that help them reflect on themselves.
Reading can be a medium to
escape from all forms of judgment and criticism as it makes you forget everything
that's bothering you at that moment.
When a person reads good books, it teaches
them various life lessons such as the responsibility to others, the value of love and
friendship, and the wisdom of forgiveness and patience, which helps them gain
emotional and mental maturity.
Reading books has been shown to reduce stress,
improve sleep patterns, and more. Reading also encourages people to exercise, as
they are now more conscious of their health after reading about exercise routines
in books.
World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day or
International Day of the Book, is an annual event organized by the United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading,
publishing, and copyright. The first World Book Day was celebrated on 23 April in
1995, and continues to be recognized on that day. A related event in the United
Kingdom and Ireland is observed in March. The main aim of the World Book Day is
to encourage children to the pleasures of books and reading. The reason for
choosing this particular date is interesting. The 23rd of April is a symbolic date for
world literature because it is the date of death for many great authors and poets
such as William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and more.
Currently, there are
more than 600,000 libraries in the world.
İf we are talking about well-known
libraries, then the US library of Congress in California and the British National
library in London can be cited as examples. The first library in Azerbaijan is the
National Library of Azerbaijan named after Mirza Fatali Akhundzade.
The official
opening of this library took place on May 23, 1923 I also like to read books . I
mainly like world literature, fantastic and comic works.
If they haven't read it, I
recommend Alexandre Duma’s Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers.
