enough to eat or use, or the waste produced in this process.
Example: The refrigerator air purifier reduces food spoilage and waste. 4 To contaminate (v) - to make something less pure or make it poisonous:
Example: The food which had been contaminated was destroyed. 5 To leach (v) - (of a substance) to come out of or be removed from another
substance, esp. dirt, by passing water through it.
Example: The calcium and magnesium ions are leached or washed out o f the top soil into lower inaccessible subsoil. 6 Whopping (adj) - extremely large.
Example: a whopping 35 percent pay rise 7 Mushy (adj) - soft and having no firm shape.
Example: The meat was mushy and tasteless. 8 Homage (n) - deep respect and often praise shown for a person or god.
Example: On this occasion we pay homage to him for his achievements. 9 Impoverished (adj) - very poor; made weaker or worse in quality.
Example: an impoverished young actor. Example: He warned that the breakdown o f the family unit would lead to an impoverished society. 10 To rotate (v) - when farmers rotate crops, they regularly change which crops they
grow in a particular field.
