In a centrifugal pump NPSH is mainly governed by rotational speed(N), eye of an impeller, type and
number of vane. However, with reciprocating pump it is a function of speed and valve design.

The volume flow rate at which the actual NPSH and the required NPSH intersect represents the
maximum flow rate that can be delivered by the pump without the occurrence of cavitation.
