The legal activity of customs authorities in the field of protection of intellectual property 
rights has not been comprehensively studied. 
The object of this work is the social relations that develop in the process of customs 
authorities carrying out their legal activities in the field of protection of intellectual property rights. 
A set of legal norms regulating the implementation by customs authorities of administrative 
and jurisdictional activities in the field of protection of intellectual property rights, scientific 
literature devoted to the area under study, as well as law enforcement activities of customs 
authorities in the exercise of administrative jurisdiction in this area. 
The subject is a set of legal norms regulating legal activity in the field of protection of 
intellectual property rights by customs authorities, the implementation of scientific literature 
devoted to the area under study, as well as law enforcement activities of customs authorities on this 
issue. 
The purpose of this issue is to develop, substantiate theoretical provisions on the legal 
activities of customs authorities in the field of protection of intellectual property rights and the 
formation of practical recommendations for improving the established activities of customs 
authorities. 
To achieve this goal, it is necessary to implement the following tasks: 
- analysis and generalization of customs authorities' approaches to the essence and content of 
legal protection; 
- definition of the content of the concept of legal activity of customs authorities in the field 
of protection of intellectual property rights; 
- study of the structural elements of the legal activity of customs authorities in the field of 
protection of intellectual property rights and identification of the principles by which this activity is 
carried out; 
- determination of the specifics of the customs authorities' record-keeping in cases of 
violations in the field of intellectual property; 
- to consider the activities of customs authorities in the field of protection of intellectual 
property rights in the conduct of office work on citizens' appeals; 
- identification of problematic issues in the activities of customs authorities in the field of 
protection of intellectual property rights, proposal and justification of ways to solve them; 
- to develop proposals and recommendations for improving the legal activities of customs 
authorities in the field of protection of intellectual property rights. 
The scientific novelty of the work is determined by the author's approach to the study of the 
theoretical and practical foundations of the legal activities of customs authorities in the field of 
protection of intellectual property rights, aimed at the theoretical justification of improving the legal 
activities of customs authorities in the field of protection of intellectual property rights.
