Duolingo has more than 500 million registered users because its premium service is 
also free of charge.
Duolingo was designed like a tree game and has step by step stages. At the 
end of the game there is a little trophy wearing a flag which represents learning 
language. Each stage in the tree consists of several lessons. Each lesson is a level 
that the learner must give correct answer until the bar fills up, however, incorrect 
answers moves the bar down. The questions consist of free translation, constructing 
correct sentence with given words, picture matching, and pronunciation exercises. In 
completion of every stage, the node will turn into golden and learner will receive 
rewords in the form of the game currency-“lingots”. Lingots can be used to purchase 
various bonuses such as costumes for Duo-owl, bonus lessons, and other fun credits.
Every node that a learner has finished will be demolished at a certain rate and 
will turn into a normal color which means that the game is urging to be reviewed 
again. One can also use “Practice Weak Skills” button at the bottom of the game to 
draw back from a few random lessons. Duolingo has also grammar teaching 
activities by which learners can learn a language through puzzles and tests. For 
example, Duolingo Spanish has a lesson on the two verbs meaning “to be”-ser and 
estar.
There are many positive feedbacks that the learners leaves because the special 
design of Duolingo encourages to keep learners’ motivation. Moreover, mobile 
version periodically sends notification reminding that it is time learn a target 
language. Another, features of Duolingo that it teaches in context rather than rote 
memorization of the vocabulary. On the other hand, there are some drawbacks of 
the platform such as digital learning cannot replace the real classroom and learner 
doomed to learn a language alone without peers. Also, there is some limitations in 
speech recognition task which requires a complete development. But is another 
handy and convenient tool in learning foreign language and it was founded in 2008.

online language learning platform that offers interactive language lessons in
