Some people think that the best way to stay fit is to join a gym/health club while others think doing everyday activities such as walking and climbing stairs is sufficient. Discuss both views and give your opinion. More and more people are growing conscious of their physical fitness these days. In this respect, it is debated whether joining a health club such as a gym is the most optimal way to keep fit or one can achieve similar results doing day-to-day activities like walking and climbing stairs. I tend to fall in the latter camp.
Admittedly, joining a gym has some considerable advantages in the terms of improving one’s physical condition. The main one is great efficiency as opposed to limited exercise from daily activities. This is because gym members have access to a substantial range of equipment which allows them to induce relatively high muscle activation and caloric expenditure in a short workout session. Weighted squats are a good case in point. As well as growing strong hamstrings and quads, one burns 200-300 calories in few sets of squatting with weights on, which would take half a day of climbing stairs to achieve similar results. As such, home workout can hardly be seen as a practical option.
I, however, consider engagement in daily physical activities to be an adequate source of exercise for optimal physique. Our bodies go through a wide range of motion during the day. For instance, when walking, human body uses a number of stabilizer muscles as well as major muscle groups to help us propel our body; studies have shown that this form of exercise is more efficient than doing isolated workout movements at a gym. Furthermore, a moderate amount of exercise from doing housework such as doing the laundry, ironing, cleaning and cooking, which involve various body movements, can have a cumulative result. Doing such activities consistently is often more desirable than having an inconsistent workout regime at a gym, which often is the case with most gymgoers.
Having discussed the topic from both perspectives, I resort to saying that daily activities provide ample exercise for maintaining a desirable physical shape though joining a gym is not without its benefits. #Mukhammadali_Issues
