Leachıng of Srso4 (Celestıte) in Carbonate Solution
In this study, the dissolution kinetic of celestite concentrate (SrSO4) in the ammonium carbonate solution was investigated. The effects of process parameters such as stirring speed, solution concentration, particle size and temperature on the dissolution rate of celestite concentrate were investigated. It was determined that reaction rate decreased with increasing ammonium carbonate concentration and increased with increasing temperature. The reaction rate was also found to be of -0.8th order with respect to ammonium carbonate concentration. Activation energy for the dissolution reaction of celestite was found as 60.4 kJ.mol-1.
It was observed that the stirring speed did not have any effect on the reaction rate in the experimental conditions applied. The rate equation for the dissolution reaction was derived from “Shrinking Core Model”. It was determined that dissolution of reaction was controlled by “Chemical Reaction Step” and relationship between fractional conversion and the time was obtained as follows:
In this equation, it was found that k0 = 21,232 (mol.cm-3)1,8 cm.min-1, = 0,02 mol.cm-3, R = 64.10-4 cm.
