Abstract Writing safety critical software is one of the most thoroughly researched
fields in the industry. It is applicable for safety and mission critical industries,
such as automotive, nuclear, medical, oil/gas, and other sectors where failure
of the system will mean serious damage or loss of human lives and/or loss
of unacceptable amount of money (space exploration and alike). Safety and
predictability are of utmost importance in such fields and must be addresses
in its entirety for those systems to operate at all. This paper presents our
study of the application of different standards that are used in different fields
to develop safety critical software. Application of different modern auxiliary
tools, such as static analyzers, their relationship and application of the
mentioned standards are also explored in this paper.
