parts of the equipment and causes environmental pollution [2]. One of the 
most relevant solutions to this issue is the implementation of “green” 
composite materials as corrosion inhibitors, which are less expensive and 
more environmentally friendly. 
Alloy steel AISI-4140 is a specification of carbon steel with a content of 
chromium and molybdenum. The high carbon content in this brand of steel 
is the basis for both high tensile strength temperature exposure [3]. 
The article outlines the corrosion resistance properties of AISI- 4140 
alloy steel in acidic and alkaline environments under various conditions, 
using chitosan as a corrosion inhibitor. Based on the results obtained, we 
can conclude that chitosan has efficient anti corrosion properties and its 
application as a corrosion inhibitor can be rational. 
Since there is an amine group in chitosan, that is, an active nitrogen 
atom, it can be concluded that it is precisely by its activity that good inhibitory 
properties are manifested, earlier we compared the inhibitory properties of 
substances with a morpholine ring and a piperidine fragment, and based on 
the results of the work carried out, a screening of inhibitory activity was 
carried out nitrogen-containing compounds, and at the moment we have 
continued our work with chitosan based on its chemical structure.
