12. My profession
W e are students o f the T ashkent State Pedagogical U niversity. O ur U niversity
trains teachers o f variuos subjects: teachers o f m athem atics, physics, chem istry,
biology, draw ing, labour, etc.
M y future profession is a teacher o f a secondary school. It is a noble and
interesting profession, but at the sam e tim e teaching is a very difficult jo b o f great
responsibility' and specific character. The profession o f a teacher is one o f the m ost
honorable professions. A teac h er's m ain w ork is to teach children his subject. Today
high dem ands are m ade o f teach er’s professional know ledge. T he m odern teacher
has to solve m any im portant problem s. He m ust not only teach children his subject
but bring them up and prepare them for life and labour. T h at is w'hy he m ust be a
specially trained specialist. G reat attention is being paid to the quality o f teaching to
the close links betw een theory practice to the s e lf education o f students. A teacher
m ust take an active part in shopping o f pupils character, cooperation and respect for
ideals. T he curriculum o f the U niversity includes num erous subjects w hich are
necessary for the m odern teacher, pedagogics and psychology are students o f all
faculties and choice o f special subjects depends on the curriculum o f this or that
faculty m uch attention at the U niversity is paid the students to the practice at school.
O ur professional know ledge can be im proved by participation in social and
research w ork. T hanks to it we shall be able to obtain teaching habits and skills.
1 am proud o f my future profession. I shall do my best to be a highly-qualified
teacher.
