Working Party on the Standardization of Technical and Safety
Requirements in Inland Navigation (SC.3/WP.3) meets twice a
year to discuss the navigation rules and technical prescriptions for
vessels, prevention of pollution, River Information Services,
recognition of vessel’s certificates and qualification of the crew.
The Working Parties bring together renowned experts in inland
navigation, including those of the European Union, River
Commissions, non-governmental organizations (EBU, ERSTU, EBA,
IVR, EDINNA and others), as well as concerned industries and
academia.
Some issues relating to inland navigation, such as the transport of
dangerous goods as well as intermodal, logistics and statistical
issues, are addressed by other ITC Working Parties, notably on the
Transport of Dangerous Goods (WP.15), Intermodal Transport and
Logistics (WP.24) and Transport Statistics (WP.6).
