LectComposition of Ship Global Maritime and Security System radio equipment [1, 3, 5, 7, 12]
Lecture plan:
Requirements for the composition of the ship's GMDSS radio equipment.
Requirements depending on the Maritime areas.
The concept of digital sampling
Requirements for energy supply sources.
Ships must be equipped with radio equipment that provides regular transmission of accident warning information in all areas of the GMDSS. For this purpose, the IMO has developed a minimum composition of GMDSS radio equipment.
Depending on the sailing area, the composition of radio equipment is shown in the table below:
Radio equipment
|
VHF unit with DSC
|
Navtex receiver
|
Radiolocation respondent
|
Emergency radio beacon
|
Portable emergency radio station
|
2182 kHz * frequency receiver
|
AD radiostation DSC and Narrow band digital print
|
MV/SV radios DSC and NBDP
|
Inmarsat ship satellite station
|
WBP reciver and MSİ SV receiver
|
DSC - digital sampling call * ERB - emergency radio;
Each ship must be equipped regardless of the sailing area:
VHF radio station:
Ability to transmit and receive at a frequency of 156,525 MHz (channel 70) in DCS mode;
capable of transmitting and receiving 156.3 MHz (Channel 6), 156.65 MHz (Channel 13) and 156.8 MHz (Channel 16) in radiotelephone mode;
Able to operate in automatic shift mode at a frequency of 156,525 MHz (channel 70) in DSC mode.
Radar transmitter operating in the range of 9 GHz;
The Navtex receiver or, if NAVTEX service is not provided in the sailing area, the vessel shall be equipped with a WBP receiver or a IMO information receiver in the SV.
Emergency Radio bouy.
Portable emergency radio station.
A device capable of giving an alarm and receiving a turn at a frequency of 2182 kHz
*
For ships sailing in the A1 and A2 maritime areas, an MF radio shall be added to the Minimum Composition. This device must meet the following requirements:
For disstres and safety purposes, it must have transmitter and receiver characteristics in 2187.5 kHz frequency in DSC mode and 2182 kHz frequency in radiotelephone mode;
must conduct radio shifts in DSC mode at 2187.5 kHz frequency;
Must have the characteristics of transmission and reception of general purpose information in radiotelephone or telex mode;
For ships sailing in the A1, A2 and A3 maritime areas, the following must be added to the Minimum Composition:
MV / SV radio set. This device must meet the following requirements:
For distress and security purposes, it must be capable of transmitting and receiving general purpose information in radiotelephone or telex mode at distress and security frequencies;
must have transmitter and receiver characteristics in the RCC mode, radiotelephone mode and narrowband letter printing mode;
must conduct radio shifts in DSC mode at a frequency of 2187.5 kHz, 8414.5 kHz and in the range of 4, 6, 12 or 16 at least one distress and safety frequency;
Must have the characteristics of transmission and reception of general purpose information in the MV / SV range in radiotelephone or telex mode;
Inmarsat ship ground satellite station.
Each ship shall be provided with equipment capable of meeting the requirements of the GMDSS in accordance with the sailing area. Each ship must have at least two independent communication systems that provide emergency warning. The equipment should be simple to use and, if necessary, work without the help of an operator.
Rescue vehicles (boats, plots, etc.) must be equipped with a radio station and a SART device that allows communication in the USF range during search and rescue operations.
Taking into account the above, the composition of GMDSS radio equipment on ships is expressed as follows:
A1 sea area:
Radar transmitter RLC / SART;
A2 sea area:
VHF / VHF radio station, with DSC;
Radar transmitter RLC / SART;
EPIRB with COSPAS-SARSAT system;
AD / MF radio station, with DSC;
A3 sea area:
INMARSAT (with 1 GQC / EGC);
VHF / VHF radio station, with DSC;
Radar transmitter RLC / SART;
QRB / EPIRB with COSPAS-SARSAT system;
VHF / VHF hand radio station;
with MV / SV (MF / HF) radio station, DSC and DZHC (NBDP-telex);
with MV / SV (MF / HF) radio station, DSC and DZHC (NBDP-telex); A3 sea area *:
INMARSAT (2 pieces);
VHF / VHF radio station, with DSC;
Radar transmitter RLC / SART;
EPIRB with COSPAS-SARSAT system;
VHF / VHF hand radio station;
(MF) radio station with DSC;
INMARSAT ship satellite station.
A4 sea area:
VHF / VHF radio station, with DSC;
Radar transmitter RLC / SART;
QRB / EPIRB with COSPAS-SARSAT system;
VHF / VHF hand radio station;
with MV / SV (MF / HF) radio station, DSC and DZHC (NBDP-telex); Note: * One of the 2 options is acceptable for A3 sea area.
