PASSIONATE AND TALANTED FOOTBALL PLAYERS

The short history of parasport: Parasport or disability sport is played by people with physical and mental impairment and has existed for more than 100 years. Parasport is generally divided into three common disability groups: deaf people, people with physical disabilities and people with intellectual disablements. Each group has its own history, organisation and approach and each group has made significant contributions to what is considered modern-day parasport.
Sporting activity was shown to be crucial for the re-education and rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities in the 19th century, despite the fact that the first deaf sport, the "Paris Quiet Games," did not take place until 1924. The Paralympic movement actually got started in the 1940s, when after World War II was over. Parasport was a great way to treat and rehabilitate the many troops and citizens who were injured in battle and left crippled. German neurologist Ludwig Guttmann, a renowned neurologist before World War II, was the driving force behind the Paralympic movement. Guttmann founded the Stoke Mandeville Games on July 28, 1948, to coincide with the beginning date of the Opening Ceremony of the 1948 Olympic Games in London. Guttmann was a strong proponent of using sport as a means of rehabilitation for the disabled. By doing this, Guttmann established the first wheelchair athletic competition
In the UK, the Football Association (FA) has created a Disability Talent Programme.
