This is the “Go-To” place for authoritative, up-to-date, easy-to-read, full-text and non-commercial consumer health information. There’s no need to have a long list of sites, as MedlinePlus will already link to the best anyway.

Link to Michigan Go Local - Make sure your library website also provides a link to Michigan Go Local medlineplus.gov/MI. MGL is an online directory to health services in Michigan, also searchable by zip code or health topic, and links to MedlinePlus. Over 12,000 records (and growing) are in the database; entries are indexed by health terms, verified and routinely updated by medical librarians.

Schedule Health Talks - Contact local health services (hospitals, health departments, etc.) and invite them to present at your library. Develop a calendar for adult services or a Speakers Bureau with a Consumer Health Information theme. Use Michigan Go Local to locate community resources.
Get $$$$ - Apply for funds to develop a Consumer Health Information project at your library – a variety of funding levels are available to libraries that are members of the Greater Midwest Region nnlm.gov/gmr/funding
