The bar chart below shows the numbers of men and women attending various evening courses at an adult education centre in the year 2009. The pie chart gives information about the ages of these course participants.
The two charts present data from 2009, showcasing the number of participants in various night classes by gender and age distribution.
Other possible ways of writing a good introduction for this task:

  • The bar chart compares the popularity of four evening courses with males and females at an adult education center in 2009. The pie chart illustrates the percentages of mature students according to their ages.



  • The pictures illustrate the attendance of male and female students to four different evening courses divided by age at an adult education institution in 2009.



  • The figures illustrate the number of male and female students who attended four different evening courses at an adult education institution in 2009, and proportions of the attendances based on age.

Overall, most of the students were aged 50 years and above. Additionally, there were more female attendees than males in most courses.


Other ways:

  • Overall, there were more women than men in the drama, painting and languages classes, while in sculpture class men participants outnumbered the women. It can also be seen that the majority of the students were the senior people (aged 50 years and above), while the lowest was those whose aged below 20 years.



  • Overall, women dominated the evening courses except for the sculpture sessions. The courses were more attractive to older adults particularly in the 50 or over age group.




  • It is clear that women participants outnumbered the men in all the courses except in sculpture. It can also be seen that the majority of the students were from the oldest age group (50 or over).

Most (repetition) prominently, language classes gained the highest popularity among women with 40 female attendees, double the number of their male counterparts in this class category. In contrast, men preferred painting the most as 25 of them chose to take part in drawing lessons. Nonetheless, there were still 5 more ladies in this class than gentlemen. The least favoured option for both genders was the sculpture course which had 10 male students and half that number for females. In addition, the drama class was just as unpopular among men as sculpture but was reasonably well-received among women with 20 female attendees.


Sample paragraph to analyze and compare with yours:

20 females attended the drama class in 2009, which doubled the number of males in the same class (at 10). More people were interested in painting at this center than in drama, with 30 ladies and around 25 gentlemen. The least popular course was the sculpture, in which the number of men was unusually higher than females (10 vs. 5). The language course was most attractive to females at around 40 of them attending it, in comparison to just 20 males in this course.
Moving on to the age statistics of the course participants, only 5% of them were 20 years and younger, forming the smallest age group. More than double that number were people aged between 20 and 29, followed by those in their thirties who account for (present simple) 16% of the students. Moreover, attendees in their forties make up more than a quarter of all students. Lastly, the largest age group was people above 50 years old, who were 42% of students.
Sample paragraph to analyze and compare with yours:

The popularity of the four courses in creased with age. There was only 5% of young adults aged under 20 joining the courses, while significant 42% of older students aged 50 or over attended evening education. The percentage of participants in the courses increased by around 5 to 10% every decade from aged 20s to 40s.
