DERIVATION OF HOOK, LIFT POINT, AND RIGGING LOADS
6.1
INTRODUCTION
6.1.1
The following sections determine the loads to be used for confirming the suitability of the cranes and
for the design of rigging components using the parameters laid down in Section 5.
6.2
HOOK LOADS
6.2.1
The total loading on the crane hook(s) should be based on the lifted item Design Weight, where the
Design Weight is as follows:
Design Weight =
Net Weight x Weight Contingency Factor (see Sections 8.3.1 to 8.3.3 of
0001/ND, Ref. [1])
or
Design Weight =
Weighed Weight x Weight Contingency Factor (see Sections 8.3.8 and
8.3.9 of 0001/ND, Ref. [1]),
or
Design Weight =
NTE Weight x Weight Contingency Factor (see Section 8.1.1, 8.1.2, 8.3.5
and 8.3.6 of 0001/ND, Ref. [1]).
Note: for piles, the Design Weight shall be calculated based on Section 8.3.4 of 0001/ND, Ref. [1].
