ELECTRICAL SAFETY
GENERAL
Application
38.1
This Part applies to every workplace where electrical work is
performed.
Safe work procedures
38.2
An employer must
(a) develop and implement safe work procedures for electrical
work;
(b) train workers who do electrical work in those safe work
procedures; and
(c) ensure that workers comply with those safe work procedures.
Emergency procedures re contact with energized electrical equipment
38.3(1) Without limiting section 38.2, an employer must
(a) develop emergency procedures to be followed if an electrical
worker or other person may come in contact with exposed
energized electrical equipment and that contact may affect his
or her safety or health; and
(b) implement those procedures if such contact occurs.
38.3(2) The emergency procedures under subsection (1) must include the
procedures to be followed for rescuing, administering first aid and
obtaining further medical assistance for the worker.
38.3(3) An employer must ensure that workers who will implement the
emergency procedures are trained in the procedures.
