My absolute favorite way to spend my free time is to read books. To start off, by reading books,
we can relax a lot. Unlike exercising or taking a walk, reading books takes really no energy. It's
almost like sleeping, except we are awake. When we read, there are no noises or anything else to
distract us; it is just peace and quiet with none of the stresses of modern day life. It kind of reminds
me of what it was like in the olden days. Also, reading books allows me to go on a journey. I can
imagine a lot of different places and people when I start reading a new book. For example, I started
reading The Hobbit a couple of days ago. Whenever I read The Hobbit, I love imagining myself as a
passive spectator, fascinated just by the different worlds like The Elven Kingdom or The Shire. I
love being able to transport myself to a different world through books. To conclude, because books
are relaxing and transport me to another world, my favorite way to spend my free time is reading
books.

learning from experiences. Which one do you prefer?
A. Sample Answer
Without a doubt, I prefer learning from books. First off, with books I can always go back and
revisit things if I forget them. For example, when I was learning about chemistry, I would always
forget things if they weren't written down. I forgot formulas or equations often. If I had just learned
chemistry through experience, it would have been much harder for me. However, because I had a
chemistry textbook, I was able to succeed and even got an A in my second semester chemistry class.
Also, reading is a great way to build up vocabulary. Even though we learn a lot of things from
experience, I need to learn vocabulary in order to prepare for the high school exit examinations.
Regrettably, an open mind would not help me to pass my test. Because it is more useful and helps me
to learn better, I prefer learning from books.
