Q209. What expectations do you have of your parents?
A. Sample Answer
I believe there are two basic expectations that parents need to meet. The first is that parents need
to let their children make mistakes. Parents will do their children a disservice is they never allow
them to do foolish things that will teach them lessons. For example, I once dated a boy that my
parents hated! Despite their feelings towards him, they let me continue to date him until he ended up
breaking my heart. They were then there to comfort me and talk to me about what happened. I learned
a lesson I will never forget and I appreciate that my parents let me make that mistake. Another
requirement parents must fulfill is to give their child the basics such as food, water, and shelter.
Every child needs those to grow up to be strong healthy. Children don’t necessarily have the means to
provide those for themselves, so parents need to make sure that they fulfill those basic needs. So,
every parent should allow their children to make mistakes as well as provide them with the basic
necessities for survival.
