Internal and external factors have been influenced on Europe’s energy security. Internally, decreasing
European energy generation, and divided inner energy markets has added tensions on Europe’s capability to
satisfy energy demand in the future. Externally, increasing global demand, permanent unsteadiness in energy
generation zones, the terrorist attacks threats towards energy infrastructure, and Russia’s obvious propensity
to utilize its energy capacity for political pressure, are all raising anxieties in Europe. Although European
leaders progressively pay lip-service to the requirement for upgraded energy cooperation, the achievement of
a Europe energy strategy will probably rely on the capacity of member states to resolve three key challenges.
Initially, how to create well-grounded associations with energy generating and transit regions, secondly, how
to utilize and also advance indigenous and alternative energy sources whilst sought to restrain entire
consumption, and lastly, how to set up an inward system to ensure trustworthy and safe energy supplies to a
whole of Europe.
Studies demonstrate that one of the main challenges for European energy security will be Europe’s
capability to differentiate the sources and methods of a transit of its energy imports. The key for the EU might
be to define the balance point for supply from main energy suppliers, such as Russia, the Caspian region, and
the Middle East and North Africa, and how to best direct relations with those regions’ governments. The EU
opens extra alternatives for external energy policy by strengthening political and economic relations with these
administrations.
