This research focuses on the use of proteus in preparing students to conduct digital electronics
experiment.
The effectiveness of the treatment given is calculated using the normalized Hake equation.
It was concluded that the experiment class was more effective in preparing students and increasing their
ability to do practical work than the control class.
Digital circuit modelling using proteus for 20 minutes
before experiment activities begin has a good impact on students.

Proteus

is an additional medium provided to
stimulate students' skills in compiling digital circuits. The use of proteus before experiment encourages
students to broaden their understanding by experimenting with various series according to their abilities.
Based on previous research, it was explained that the use of media in learning has a good influence on
students. It can
be used to increase interest, motivation and opportunities for students to be able to
develop their critical and creative thinking skills [15]–[18]. Proteus allows students to be creative and
try all components to be assembled in any form, so that it gives satisfaction to students in understanding
various kinds of problems about digital circuits. Other research explains
that using proteus improve
experiment skills. Students can do various kinds of innovation activities because proteus software
provides various types of electronic components that can be assembled by themselves [19].
This is supported by student readiness data which the indicators are being motivation, attitude and
knowledge. By using
proteus before practicing, students get experience before experiment so that
understanding
of tools, procedures and material is more depth than students who only use modules.
Students are more interested in immediately carrying out the experiment and have high motivation
independently to solve any problems that given.
Based on observations of the implementation of experiment activities, students who previously used
proteus looked more independent in practicing than students who not used proteus before. The tools and
materials used are easily found. The procedures for conducting experiment are conducted in a coherent
and smooth manner. The skills in using the tools and arranging the circuit are done well and carefully.
