solve problems.
Example: With a little ingenuity, meals can be tasty as well as inexpensive. 2 Abundance (n) - the situation in which there is more than enough of something:
Example: There was an abundance o f food at the wedding. 3 Scarcity (n) (C2) - a situation in which something is not easy to find or get; a lack of
something.
Example: A scarcity of flour makes bread, cake, and other baked goods more
expensive.
4 Supply (n) (B2) - to provide something that is wanted or needed, often in large
quantities and over a long period of time.
Example: Electrical power is supplied by underground cables. 5 Conventional (adj) (B2) - traditional and ordinary.
Example: conventional behaviour/attitudes/farming/wedding 6 Resolution (n) (C2) - the act of solving or ending a problem or difficulty.
Example: a successful resolution to the crisis. 7 Containment (n) - the act of controlling or limiting something or someone harmful.
Example: Containment o f crowd violence was the police’s main goal. 8 Incremental (adj) - small; happening gradually, in a series of small amounts.
Example: We plan to make incremental improvements to our existing products. 9 Profound (adj) (C2) - felt or experienced very strongly or in an extreme way.
Example: The speech had a profound influence on her. 10
Sweeping (adj) - making a big difference to a particular situation and affecting a lot
of people.
Example: sweeping changes/cuts/reforms. The party has embarked on a series of sweeping reforms. 11
