- the process of getting something
Example: The acquisition o f huge amounts o f data has helped our research
enormously.

- not behaving in a way that is as calm and wise as people 
expect from someone of your age
Example: She’s rather immature for her age, don’t you think?

Dominate (v) 
- to have control over a place or person
Example: He refuses to let others speak and dominates every meeting.

Fit into (v) (C1) -
to feel that you belong to a particular group and are accepted by 
that group
Example: It’s no surprise she’s leaving - she never really fitted in.

Reasonable (adj) (B2) 
- based on or using good judgment and therefore fair and 
practical
Example: If you tell him what happened, I’m sure he’ll understand - he’s a reasonable
man.

Settle on (v) 
- to choose something or decide to do something after considering it 
carefully
Example: The committee have yet to settle on a site for the new premises.

- the level or point at which you start to experience something, or 
at which something starts to happen
Example: I have a low/high boredom threshold (= I do/don’t feel bored easily).
