apodemes are situated above and below the claw's fulcrum. The claw closes when the muscles attached to the 
apodemes contract.
The amount of skeleton required to support the other tissues and the amount of muscle 
required for movement determine the size of an animal with an endoskeleton. Bone and muscle mass 
both grow as the body gets bigger. The speed achievable by the animal is a balance between its overall 
size and the bone and muscle that provide support and movement
