Interview Question 9: What effect has the IBW had on the pupils’ understanding and 
progress and your English teaching? 
 
A number of different effects that IWB has had on teaching were mentioned, and the effects 
mentioned by the teachers were all positive.

så lättillgängligt när man har det på 
nätet och kan bara blåsa upp det där 
och alla kan se det samtidigt”. 
“I think clarity. Everything is so 
convenient when you have everything on 
the web and you can just blow it up on the 
IWB and everybody can see it at the same 
time”. 
 
The different websites such as, Answer garden and Kahoot, with interactive exercises that the 
teacher can use in ELT have had a positive effect on the pupils’ participation, motivation and 
engagement. However, graphical and visual representation seemed to be the biggest 
advantage with the IWB. The possibility and convenience of bringing web resources into the 
classroom in front of the whole class at the same time while supporting all learning-styles 
were aspects that had affected language teaching in a positive way.

just för det där att man kan få med alla 
förmågorna för ett och samma område 
som man vill att de ska utvecklas i”.

“Jag tror att inlärningen sker på ett 
roligare sätt. Sen kanske de elever som 
har det svårt fortfarande har det svårt och 
tvärtom men jag tror att den bidrar till 
nått positivt”. 
“I think the learning happens in a 
funnier way. The pupils who have 
some difficulties might still have some 
difficulties and the other way around, 
but I think it contributes to something 
positive”. 
 
If there was any improvement and progress in the pupils’ language proficiency was hard for 
the teachers to answer. However, there was no doubt that the teachers believed that the IWB 
was something beneficial and positive in the ELT classroom and for all pupils. The answers 
show that the participants believe that the IWB contributes to a more interesting and 
enjoyable lesson content, which motivates the pupils to learn. Lastly, the way it made 
everything clearer in a visual way was the main benefit.
