Formative assessment: 
(i) T provides Sts with checklist and evaluation criteria so that they are 
able to reflect on their progress as well. 
(ii) The T identifies the Sts who have selected the same disasters, puts 
them in groups (e.g., Coping with 
Tornadoes/Floods/Earthquakes/Landslides Group) and arranges 
group meetings with them. During those meetings, Sts compare notes, 
lists, drafts and maps, and provide feedback to each other. The T also 
examines the materials prepared by the Sts and provides feedback for 
the points that their peers do not mention or the Sts misunderstood or 
misinterpreted. 
(iii) The T takes notes, and depending on how successful Sts are in 
matching the success criteria s/he either proceeds with the original plans 
or adapts and changes goals so that Sts’ learning is supported better. 
Week 2Relief Organisations for Natural Disaster 
Find information about different “Relief Organisations for Natural 
Disaster” in Turkey and around the world.
 
Possible Sources: Search the internet, visit relevant websites, read 
blogs, books and articles, watch documentaries and YouTube videos, 
listen to various podcasts and radio programs.
Aims:
(i) To learn as much as possible about groups or organisations striving 
to help people and regions affected by natural disasters. 
(ii) Write a short report (200-250 words) about one of them. The report 
is expected to be about a group that focuses specifically/more on the 
natural disaster chosen by the Sts in Week 1.

Expected output/product:
A short report about a group or an organisation helping people survive 
natural disasters that Sts chose to focus on in Week 1. The report should 
have the following sections: 
(i) Background information (e.g., when, where, by whom the 
group/organisation was created) 
(ii) Help action: 
a) how do they reach the areas affected by natural disasters (e.g., 
helicopters, aeroplanes, boats) 
b) what kind of support is delivered (e.g., medical supplies, food, 
cleaning products) 
c) who are the members of the group (e.g., medical doctors, firefighters, 
engineers).
(iii) Accomplishments: Which relief actions the organisation has 
undertaken/taken part in so far? 
(iv) References (Note: Follow APA 7
