TYMOLOGY
– The specific designation is derived from the Latin name of Székely, a
Hungarian ethnic group living in Transylvania.

– Other specimens collected from the same host plant in Budapest,
district II, Felhévíz, Frankel L. street (104 m elev.; 47°31.435’N, 19°02.196’E.), on 8 Oc-
tober 1993, from the underside of the leaves, on veins and in vein angles, and mounted on
slides, are in the author’s collection and deposited in the Pest Management Department,
Plant Protection, Soil Conservation and Agri-environment Directorate, Central Agricul-
tural Office, Budapest, Hungary.

EMARKS
– The new species is similar in morphology to
Cecidophyes collegiatus
Keifer, from which it differs in the number of empodial rayes (5), the pattern of shield,
number of striae on female genital coverflap (16–18), the shape of anteromedian lobe
(broad and blunt) (Keifer, 1961).

– prodorsal shield pattern composed of a median line, two admedian lines
followed by four short submedian lines; a transverse line from submedian field. Empodium
6–7-rayed, coxae smooth; genital region smooth.

soma 20 (20–33), projecting obliquely downwards; chelicerae 17 (17–27), seta d 4 (3–5).
Prodorsal shield 36 (36–44), 47 (37–47) wide, semicircular anteriorly, with anteromedian
lobe (7) over gnathosomal base; shield pattern composed of a short median line, two ad-
median lines followed by four short submedian lines; a transverse line from submedian
field. Tubercles sc and setae sc absent.
Foreleg 37 (37–40), tibia 5 (5–6), tarsus 6 (6–8),
