AZIZ ALIYEV AND HIS  ROLE IN DEVELOPMENT OF PUBLIC 

HEALTH IN AZERBAIJAN

Aziz Aliyev  has  passed a difficult course  of life.  Despite these  difficul-ties, 

he continued to occupy himself with scientific researches along with  study.

Aziz  Aliyev  has  rendered  great  services  to  the  public  health  of Azerbaijan. 

He  was  an  excellent  organizer o f the  public  health.  In  1930  he  played the  big  role 

in  creation  o f the  Azerbaijan  Medical  Institute.  In  1932  became  the  rector  of this 

institute.  When  managed  this  institute  within  five  years  he  achieved  the  edition 

more than  55  textbooks and  teaching aids.  Later on  his  initiative  in  the  country the 

medical  publishing  house  was  established,  the  first  medical  magazine  was  public- 

shed;  orderliness  in the edition o f the medical  newspaper (nowadays the newspaper 

“Tabib”)  was  assured.  Afterwards  he  became  the  initiator  o f establishment  of Re­

search  and  Development  Institutions  o f Orthopedics  and  Restorative  Surgery  and 

an  Institute  of Advanced  Medical  Studies.  He  also  has  been  at  the  head  of these 

institutes for a long time.

With  confidence  it  is  possible  to  tell  that  this  paper  will  play  a  consi­

derable  role  in training of new medical  personnel.
