OPTIMAL LOCATION OF TCSC DUE TO POWER LOSS REDUCTION AND
STATIC VOLTAGE STABILITY IMPROVEMENT USING GENETIC ALGORITHM

Abstract
Reactive power is a one of the side services of electricity network which has a crucial
role related to improvement of stability especially that of voltage. In modern power systems
which are always exploited under stress, voltage stability gains higher importance, therefore
stability margin should increase as much as possible.
In this article, TCSC optimal place and capacity were determined in order to improve
voltage static stability and to reduce power loss. Therefore two indexed, index of voltage
static stability and power loss have been considered as technical indexes. Network emergency
conditions have also been considered in simulations to approach real conditions of power
system.
