How to use Entrance/Exit 
Ticket
in middle of lesson 
•
While you are talking to students or in middle you notice 
confusion on their faces... 
•
Have students tear a small piece of paper from their 
notebook. 
•
Write question on the board.
•
Example: “What do find confusing about today’s 
lesson?” 
•
Tell students “No names” on the paper. 
•
Give 1 minute warning, then gather papers 
•
Read the papers to yourself in front of the students. You 
are modeling reading and thinking in front of your 
students.

Make changes in your lesson or review confusing 
information with students. 
•
This type of activity encourages students to ask questions when 
they are confused.

Be firm with students that they must follow directions and 
write answer before they can leave the classroom.
