Example: I assumed (that) you knew each other because you went to the same school. Example: Let’s assume (that) they’re coming and make plans on that basis. 4 Excavate (v) - to remove earth that is covering very old objects buried in the ground
in order to discover things about the past
Example: Ice age bones are being excavated in the caves. 5 Carbon dating (n) - a method of calculating the age of extremely old objects by
measuring the amount of a particular type of carbon in them
6 Reconcile (v) (C2) - to find a way in which two situations or beliefs that are opposed
