2.2. COMPARE AND CONTRAST BETWEEN LADY MACBETH AND LADY MACDUFF. To compare and contrast the roles of Lady Macbeth in the play, giving close consideration to their relationship their husbands. In the play ‘Macbeth’ we notice that the roles of Lady Macbeth and Lady Macduff are very different. The contrast between these two ladies, is especially noted by each woman’s loyalties and manner of death. These two women, as similar as they were, also had dissimilarities that are far more striking. Although Lady Macduff and Lady Macbeth each had the ability to influence their family, they used this influence in entirely different ways.
There are many differences between Lady Macduff and Lady Macbeth, one is their loyalties to King Duncan. When Macbeth told his wife that the witches said he would be king, Lady. Whereas, Lady Macduff encouraged her family to be loyal to King Duncan and to his sons, the rightful rulers of Scotland. Lady Macduff is a strong and a loving mother. After her conversation with Ross, in which he tells her that Macduff has fled the country, we see her close relationship with her son when she tells him; because she is furious that Macduff has left them alone, that his father is dead. Even though she doesn’t believe her husband is a traitor. We see her devotion to Macduff when asked by the murders where he is she replies; “I hope, in place so unsanctified, Where such as thou may’st find him.” Lastly, in contrast to how Lady Macbeth faced her death, Lady Macduff had a clear conscience and thought only of her family's safety, even as she was being pursued by Macbeth's henchmen was largely due to their wives' influence. Overall, Lady Macduff was a much better influence on her husband than Lady Macbeth was. Their goodness or lack thereof affected not only their own lives but also those of every other Scotsmen from that time

CONCLUSION. In conclusion of my course work I should say that working with this theme was very interesting for me. I accumulated all essential data on woman character of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. As a result of this study I have come into following conclusion. William Shakespeare has many interesting female characters throughout all of his different types of works. Some of these women are leading ladies while others are just supporting characters that help move the story along. No matter the depth of the character’s role each lady gives some type of unthinkable personality trait that would be unique to women during Shakespeare’s time. So , there are also female characters that featured women who wouldn’t be seen during the time of William Shakespeare’s writing in the Macbeth Othello, and King Lear. Physically and emotionally women were considered to be the weaker person.
Among Shakespeare’s works, we talk about Macbeth, it has also woman characters like others. In traditional literature females are commonly portrayed in a negative way by male writers. The belief that females are inferior to men has resulted in a patriarchal society within the majority of the world. Not until recently have females been commonly portrayed as strong and independent characters. In the poem, Macbeth, Shakespeare diverts from the usual portrayal of women through a major character, Lady Macbeth. The ironic depiction of women presented in Macbeth challenges the view of women during the Medieval era while still hindering equality for women.
We imagine Macbeth as great warrior, man who inspires fear and admiration. He showed great courage in the battle, courage that determined its outcome. Within relationships, women have dominance over their male partners through the use of their sexual power. This relationship between men and women can become sources of conflict. In the play, Macbeth, the power of a woman is a strong force to be reckoned with. Many times in the play, the female characters have proven their equality with any man. From the witches to Lady Macbeth, these characters show their power either in words or in actions.
Duncan- During the time the play was based on, men were the figurehead for power and dominance. The woman was always to be the follower in any relationship. Shakespeare takes both roles in society and flips them in his play Macbeth.

person that they take direction from is Hecate, the goddess of witchcraft. They do as they please and ... Three Witches are great characters in the sense that they influence so much of the story, but they aren’t physically involved. They watch and influence from the sidelines.
