Basar

kÓlimiz joq. (N. Dawqaraev)
In the first example, we can see the type of conversion NOUN TO ADVERB. The words
jaz
and
gu'z
become adverbs from nouns.
Also, we can sometimes find conversion process among numerals. The word
besatardiń
in
the example above, answers to the question
"kimniń"
which represents the noun clause received the
affix iyelik sepligi. We can cite the rest examples as the conversion from KELBETLIK FEYIL to
other parts of speech. The word
"Keliwshilerge"
changes its main function as a KELBETLIK
FEYIL answering the question "kimge? (Whom)" that makes it a noun. However, the word
"keterinde"
becomes adverb formed from kelbetlik feyil via conversion.
Basar, batar,
on the other
hand, are transferred to kelbetlik.
In Karakalpak, conversion was not investigated throughly in comparison to English. Just in
some works of A. Bekbergenov about lexical-semantic way of word formation this process was
mentioned shortly.
Word changing in Karakalpak using the way of conversion is rare. If the word changes to
adjective it is called adjectivation, to adverb- adverbalisation, to verb - verbalization , to nouns -
substantivation.
It is a well-known fact that conversion is particularly frequent in the English language and
gives rise to many new formations. However, no attention is paid in this work to its rate of output or
to the constraints which affect it, something infelicitous considering the author’s view of conversion
as a derivational pattern. Learning conversions in different languages especially the source and
target languages on the basis of comparative typology enables the learners to investigate the field
from the elementary tips like word formation, the lexical-semantic way of forming new words and
word groups, grammatical changes in the sentences which come from parts of speech, their
meanings in sentences. [1:26]
Conversion is an important feature of English and Karakalpak as well even though we
cannot see more examples in this source language comparing to the English, rich in words formed
using conversion. Through this investigation of conversion in both languages we can distinguish
their main and inherent peculiarities of Karakalpak and English. In comparison to English, the
words lose their lexical-semantic functions in Karakalpak. We analyzed two languages in order to
see how closely they are related to one another especially in the process of converting words. In an
attempt to understand and explain first language (L1) acquisition and second language (L2)
acquisition scholars have put forward many theories in conversion given above. These theories can
aid language learners to understand language learning and to assist themselves in their language
learning process. By comparative typology, learners could compare any language and it gives them
to comprehend the language characteristics from a root. And we can compare phonetic ,
phonological, lexical, semantic and even grammatical peculiarities and approaches functioning in
conversion in our first language and target language.
