Keywords: artistic literature, story, genre, hero, character, drama, composition, plot. Introduction. Many genres of artistic literature appeared in the ancient period of the
development of artistic creativity and continue to improve and develop to this day. This means that
literary genres are formed in the process of development of artistic literature. Therefore, when
studying the work of the masters of the artistic word, we, first of all, must rely on the genre features
of their work.
G. Esemuratova is a talented writer who stands out in Karakalpak literature with her unique
style of writing, several genres are clearly manifested in her prose. On the initial path of her work,
she entered the Karakalpak literature with her short stories and essays, but she received recognition
thanks to her large works. All the works of the writer are diverse and colorful in terms of
ideological themes, composition, storyline, content, and artistic representation of reality. To
highlight their genre nature, a deep scientific analysis of her works is required. It should be noted
that until now the works of G. Esemuratova have not become the subject of a special research,
including studies aimed at identifying genre differences in works.
One can note the monograph of the writer Z. Bekbergenova about the writer’s work, where
the researcher talks about the artistic skill of G. Esemuratova, the truth of life and the truth of the
era, but she left the questions of studying the genre features of the works open [1].
Z. Ktaybekova, who conducted a study of Karakalpak works, in her dissertation work
analyzes the following stories of the writer: “Qaraq pısıqtıń ılaysańı” (lit., “The tricks of a black
cat”), “Íshqı bólinbese ...” (literally, “If feelings are unrequited ...” ), “Dúnya-malıń kim ushın?”
(lit., “For whom are your savings?”), “Turmıstaǵı mayda-shúydeler” (lit., “Little things in life”),
“Sol Tanya qayda eken ?!” (lit., “Where is this Tanya?!”), “Ótken iske ókinbe! degen menen…”
(lit., “Don’t regret the past! but still…”). Noting the trends in the development of the genre on the
example of the works of a number of writers of the 90s of the twentieth century, Ktaybekova
emphasizes that the directions of genres are replenished with satirical, humorous, symbolic,
fantastic works, and their form is also enriched, but she does not express her point regarding the
genre features of the works of G. Esemuratova vision [2].
