Some people think visual images, such as photographs and videos, can most accurately inform people about a news story. Others believe they are not reliable sources of information.
Some people are of the opinion that news stories are best described using photographs and videos while not everyone agrees such visuals are necessarily accurate. I tend to agree with the latter view.
One could argue visual images are the most accurate depiction of a news story for some reasons. Unlike written accounts of news, videos and photos are hard to fake. It requires many hours of editing and remastering to change the details of a story in video format, hence making it less likely that news reporters misreport news. What else makes visual news reliable is their comprehensive nature. As opposed to news articles, TV news broadcasts and imageries contain features regarding time, space and circumstances of a particular situation, which give people a clear picture of the situation. In this regard, news stories containing visuals are generally authentic.
On the other hand, I am rather skeptical of videos and photos used in news stories. For one, visuals can be manipulated easily. Recent advances in AI technology now allow manipulation of videos and photos with minimal effort. Software tools such as Deep Fake and Chat GPT can be used to fake one’s voice as well as face, such as that of a politician, which can be cause for concern over credibility of news. Furthermore, images are often exaggerated to garner more attention. YouTube thumbnails are in a good case in point. They often depict a dramatized snap of an event, which makes them misleading and at times, perplexing.
Having discussed the use of visuals in news stories in term of their reliability, I hold the belief that they are not to be judged at face value as they can be edited and thus, possibly deceptive.

Some people think that people are responsible for their happiness. Others feel that happiness depends on other factors in their life. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
The definition of happiness varies from person to person and from culture to culture, and there is a heated debate over whether individuals can make themselves happy or happiness depends heavily on other external factors. In my view, happiness is a combination of individual efforts and other influences in life, which are outside one's control.
Some argue that being happy is only up to the individual and their own endeavors. This argument totally makes sense because we can definitely choose to be happy by, for instance, deciding to take up an interesting pastime or hobby. This is especially true for those whose beloved diversion is doing shopping, since - research proves - it boosts dopamine levels in their brain, which is the pleasure hormone. Another reason for this side of the debate is linked to one's career. No one can force us to do things that we don't enjoy, and we possess full control over our choice of jobs. Artists and musicians, for example, may not earn a large amount of money as politicians or businesspeople do, but they opted for these life paths to satisfy their interests and, of course, to pursue happiness.
Nonetheless, other uncontrollable factors also play an equally essential part in increasing our level of contentment in life. One of them is our background. Being born in a country that prioritizes political stability, economic prosperity and individual well-being tends to make a person happy, when they compare their lives with those living in a war-torn and economically struggling nation. The second, albeit no less significant, factor at play is people that surround us. We are more likely to be happy when someone we appreciate and love reaches new heights, rather than when they fail.
Overall, I believe that both sides of the discussion carry equal weight. This is because, we can make ourselves happy, on the one hand, by our life decisions, such as an engrossing pastime or a fulfilling job, and, on the other, through other factors: our backgrounds and people around us.
