Reasons why this is the case are varied, and I believe governments should assist local movies companies financially.
The most obvious reason why foreign movies are often favored by many people has to do with their entertaining and engaging nature. What makes foreign cinema amusing is the use of special effects like CGI (computer-generated images), which allows fictional characters, especially superheroes, to be portrayed in a realistic and accurate fashion. Lacking such technology, most local movie companies fail to provide what most audiences seek when watching a movie – entertainment. Foreign motion picture also seems to offer a more compelling storyline. Stories in foreign movies are often enriched with plot twists, which make them more suspenseful and engrossing than local movies.
These reasons should not hinder the success of local cinema companies, and financial backing of government to ensure this is crucial. Firstly, government assistance would help local movie production companies increase their revenue. Having acquired government subsidies, these companies can recruit more staff and cast more famous actors and actresses in their movies. This, as a result, improves the quality of local movies and attract more moviegoers. Furthermore, movies can be an effective tool for government to raise cultural awareness. Seeing as many people tend to mimic what they see in movies, local traditions and customs can be promoted in them. This is essential for cultivating a stronger sense of belonging and connection in a community.
In conclusion, while the elements of intense entertainment and engagement are the main appeals of foreign movies, I suggest governments lend financial aid to local movie-makers, for it helps improve the economy of the local movie industry and boost cultural literacy among people.
