1) Taking into account information on statistically estimated value of exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs bodies during the reporting period but not completely officialized
2.2. Exports and İmports
Azerbaijan's significant geopolitical position, richness in natural resources, scientific and labor potential, on the one hand, led to the development of foreign economic relations from the perspective of national interests, on the other hand, turned Azerbaijan into a competitive center of foreign interests.
Our research shows that our Republic is rapidly integrating into the world economy. The analysis of 1991-2020 shows that the volume of foreign trade relations, the number of countries with which trade relations are established and the volume of trade, as well as radical changes in the structure of imports and exports. After gaining independence, our republic has already begun to determine its foreign economic policy. The location of our country in a very favorable geographical position at the crossroads of Asia and Europe has had a positive impact on the successful implementation of this policy.
Azerbaijan's main energy enterprises, oil and oil products industry, chemical, electronics and wine industry, transport infrastructure, weak technological potential despite the richness of raw materials, insufficient production, cheap labor were the main factors driving the foreign trade system. In particular, a significant increase in the volume of foreign investment in Azerbaijan was recorded in the oil contracts.
Azerbaijan's Foreign Trade between 1991 and 2021 is shown in full in Table 2 below.
