Development of Advanced Signal Processing Algorithms for Super Third Generation Systems
In this study, super third generation systems are handled. Because of, this systems are OFDM based, they are more sensitive to synchronization errors than single carrier systems. So the timing synchronization problem is presented and found a new method or this problem.
We consider two cognitive wireless networks both of which utilize orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) in their physical layers. One of these networks (e.g., a femtocell network) utilizes the spectrum opportunities available in the other wireless network (e.g., a macrocell network). For this purpose, the former network needs to blindly synchronize to the uplink of the latter network over the air. We propose an improvement on the existing blind synchronization techniques in such a scenario by extending the correlation window length.
This thesis is separated in two parts. In the first part, super third generation systems and OFDM technology is discussed generally. Advantage and disadvantage of OFDM systems are given and CP based blind synchronization methods for single user scenario is studied. Performance comparison of these methods is done and performance improvement with averaging methods is shown with computer simulations.
On the other hand, the timing synchronization problem between femtocell and macrocell is handled in of second part and the importance of problem and affects to femtocell is discussed. Blind time synhronization methods for single user scenario is improved for this problem and the RMSE analysis and computer simulations are given.
