The name of such a huge personality, a man of words and art as Shah Ismayil Khatai has been engraved in the history of medieval Azerbaijani literature . As a poet , he played an exceptional role in enriching the spirituality of the Azerbaijani people .
Shah Ismayil Khatai greatly supported the formation of our national literature and the creation of examples of poetry in our native language . He took our language out of the people and brought it to the palace . He declared his native Azerbaijani Turkish as the state language . Shah Ismail raised our mother tongue , which has been waiting as the state language for centuries , to the level it deserves . It is clear that during his time , native -language madrasahs and educational institutions began to operate, and hundreds of our compatriots studied in the schools opened by him .
The folklorist stated that Khatai's poetry shows the development of the Azerbaijani language and the line of Sufism . According to him, the poet repeatedly emphasized his Sufi nature in his poems: " Shah Ismayil Khatai 's Sufi nature gave his poetry a humanistic spirit . But this did not turn Khatai's creativity out of diversity and turn it into sectarian poetry.
