7. How important is celebrating New Year in your country? In fact, the New Year is not a Muslim holiday. Therefore, it is not so important to celebrate the New Year in our country. There are even some families that do not celebrate the New Year for this very reason. However, since this date is also celebrated as World Day of Solidarity of Azerbaijanis, most people in our country celebrate this date as a public holiday.
8. What is your opinion on having to work on New Year’s Day? Since New Year's Day is a significant day in our country, it is considered a non-working day. But this applies to those working in the public sector. People working in private enterprises are also forced to work on holidays. In my opinion, it would be very good if the holidays are at least half a working day in the private sector as well. Because everyone wants to celebrate the holiday with their family.
9. How did you celebrate Nowruz (Aid, Ramadan)? As with other holidays, I celebrated Novruz with my family. My family and I gathered around a beautiful table and shared our holiday joy. On the holiday evening, we gathered around a bonfire. Later, I performed ear divination, one of the interesting beliefs of the holiday.
10. What do you like about Nowruz? Nowruz is my favorite holiday. Nowruz holiday is very colorful and fun. On this holiday, all of us, young and old, talk, laugh, have fun, and spend pleasant moments together. Kekal and kosan performances add a special beauty to Novruz. They bring joy to everyone and make the holiday unforgettable with their funny stories and fun games. One of my favorite traditions in Nowruz is throwing a hat. It is very nice to wait with curiosity and excitement, and then share the Nowruz gift with friends. Another popular custom of Nowruz is to stay on a bonfire and jump over it. It is really nice for relatives and neighbors to gather around a fire, have fun, and share each other's joy. In Nowruz, hearts burn with joy like bonfires, eyes shine in the dark like firelights. Most of all, I love to paint eggs and have egg fights.
