A word class is explained to be a set of words that demonstrate the same formal properties, in particular, their inflections and distribution in English grammar. The term "word class" is similar to the more traditional term, part of speech. It is also called grammatical category, lexical category, and syntactic category ( though these terms are not universally synonymous). Word classes are parts of speech. They are the building blocks that form every sentence ever uttered. They are categorized by the role they play in your sentences. There are four main word classes such as noun, verb, adjective, adverb. But there are also supplementary word classes: pronoun, article, conjuction, preposition. Look at the sentence below and identify the 15 parts of speech using the key given. You will need to use some of the abbreviations more than once.
