Overview

The ATLS course provides a framework for the management

of  the injured patient.  The target audience is doctors

in hospitals emergency settings with a training focus on

effectively assessing and managing multiple trauma patients.

Because trauma care is a rapidly advancing subject, the ATLS

course is constantly evolving to the most current practices.

The course allows those treating trauma patients to keep up-

to-date in the knowledge and skills critical to providing care

for trauma patients.

The ATLS course includes instruction in these skills:

•

The rapid and accurate assessment of  a patient’s condition

•

The resuscitation and stabilization of  a patient according to priority

•

How to determine if  a patient’s needs exceed a facility’s capabilities

•

How to arrange appropriately for a patient’s definitive care

•

How to ensure that optimum care is provided

ATLS is designed for both the first-time student and for those needing recertification.  During the 2-day

ATLS course, participants learn the medical core content in an interactive format, with hands-on skill

sessions in simulated trauma settings. There is also a 1-day refresher course for those with current ATLS

cards needing recertification.

ATLS certification is valid for four years from course completion date.
