1.What is career brand?


A perception of someone’s work-related capabilities and expertise by various audiences, most notably employers

2.What makes a career brand strong?


A combination of well-developed skills and a powerful personal image

3.When companies conduct competitive selections of their future employees, they often use a technique that we call a “Selection Dashboard”. The technique helps them to compare the candidates’ levels of mastery in performing critical tasks across all of the important competency areas for the position. Why do you think it is useful for a career developer to understand how this technique works?


The Selection Dashboard model is very realistic; it helps us to understand the logic of competitive selection and the decision-making process

4.Self-strategy is a result of applying the concept of strategic planning to personal development. What are the components of self-strategy?


Self-observation
Self-awareness
Developing a personal mission

5.Why is benchmarking so critically important for developing a strategy aimed at achieving a competitive edge from both an individual and corporate point of view?


Benchmarking helps identify true strengths and competency

Benchmarking helps assess resources and capabilities from an objective, external perspective

6.How would you define career brand development?


Building and showcasing an impressive portfolio of skills

7.I often hear that it should be up to me, not others, to define what I am. Is it different in career branding where I am told that my brand depends on how other people, such as prospective employers, perceive my qualities?


No, it is not. Indeed my brand is a perception of my capabilities, expertise and personal abilities by prospective employers, but it is up to me to form and shape their perception about my work-related qualities
