Q229. Parents should be required to pay for their children’s
university education. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
A. Sample Answer
I wholeheartedly disagree that parents should have to pay for their child’s university education.
To begin with, college is expensive! The worst part is that college costs continue to increase.
College is a huge investment nowadays and it’s not fair to expect parents to shoulder that burden.
Children need to pay at least a portion of that cost by getting a part-time job or taking out loans that
they will pay back. Parents have already spent a considerable amount of money on their children.
Another reason parents shouldn’t be expected to pay for college is because students might slack off if
they’re not responsible for paying for it. There are a lot of non-academic distractions in college. It
would be very easy to skip class if the student isn’t really being held accountable for it. However, if
the student is paying, he will know the true cost of every class and will be much more apt to go to
class. Failing a class would be much more painful if the student realizes that he has to pay again for a
class he has already taken once. So, I think it is best if parents are not required to pay for their
child’s tuition.

Q230. Describe the qualities of a good citizen?
A. Sample Answer
In order to be considered a good citizen, I believe an individual must possess two qualities. To
start off, a good citizen is one who abides by the laws. Laws were created in order to ensure social
harmony. If someone goes around violating the laws, he is showing that he has no respect for the
well-being of himself, other citizens, or his country. However, if you abide by the laws, you are
showing you care about your country and those in it. Secondly, a good citizen will vote. Voting is
such an important part of ensuring the continued success of a nation. By voting, a citizen is showing
that he does care about the fate of his country. A nation can only grow if citizens are actively
involved in that growth by choosing the people and the laws that will govern the country. To sum up,
if citizens are law-abiding and take the time to vote, I believe they possess the qualities it takes to be
good citizens.
