example, were discriminated against in regards to housing, employment, and educational
opportunities. When so many people came together to protest against inequality, it sent a powerful
message that America would finally move towards treating everyone with respect. Additionally, the
Civil Rights Movement produced one very important figure, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He is
regarded as one of the best people of the 1950's. Even though he was controversial at the time, Dr.
King is one of the most inspirational people of all time. He told people to continue to fight against
injustice and his words still ring true today. Because they helped improves the lives of all
Americans, I think that the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950's is one of the most important political
events in American history.
